Xfinity Wireless Gateway
Wireless gateway is a networking device that facilitates computer networks. They are units that mediate data in a computer and acts as an entrance to another network. Unlike conventional gateways, wireless gateways provide wireless access point and act as a firewall as well. It joins devices (router, modem and WiFi home networking device) that can save spaces and make it easier for the wirings by replacing two electronic devices with one.
If you are using Xfinity Wireless Gateway, we can help you installing your device by following these simple steps:
Step 1
Locate your wireless network Info.
You can see at the underside of your unit,
Step 2
Write down the Network Name (SSID) and Network Key.
*Skip to Step 2 if you are already connected to the internet.
Step 3
On your computer, open the list of available wireless networks.
Windows OS - Click the wireless connections icon.

Mac OS - Click the wireless icon from the menu bar.

Step 4
From the available wireless networks, select the Network Name you wrote down in Step 2
Step 5
Enter the Network Key (case-sensitive) from Step 2 in the Network Security Key field (Windows) or Password field (Mac).
Step 6
Click Connect.
Step 7
To test your Internet connection:
Open an internet web browser
And enter a valid URL (for example www.xfinity.com)
Step 8
Continue on to the Home Network Wizard to personalize your Wireless Gateway and to set up and secure your new WiFi network.
If you want to personalize your wireless gateway
This allows the user to install Advanced Features — advanced routing features of the Wireless Gateway include:
• Parental Controls
• WiFi Protected Setup (WPS)
• Firewall
Port Forwarding & Blocking
Step 1
Open a Web browser and type http://10.0.0.1 in the address line. The Wireless Gateway Login page will appear.
Step 2
Enter admin in the Username field and password in the Password field.
Step 3
Click LOGIN. The first page of the Home Network Wizard will appear.
Step 4
Create a gateway name, such as Home or Work, and enter it in the Gateway Name field.
Step 5
Remember to enter password in “Current Password” field.
Step 6
Create a new password* and enter it in the New Password field.
At least your password must have 8 characters.
And should contain both upper and lower case and at least one number to ensure strong password.
Step 7
To confirm, please re-enter your NEW password to the field.
Step 8
Write down and keep your Wireless Gateway password for future references.
Then click the “Next Step”.
